most of you will probably agree that life can be pretty busy a lot of the time. this is all the more reason to know, connect and make use of your 'pause button'.
what do i mean by 'pause button'?
a pause button can be anything that takes you into the present moment and/or gives you time to connect, reflect, consider and/or listen to your inner voice. a chance for you to pause and step off the day to day treadmill for a period of time. also, a single point of focus or concentration.
what can you use it for?
a calm and tranquil life
decompressing
self study (svadhyaya)
to consider a solution to a problem or concern
to reflect
to work out how you feel and what you want/need from a situation and/or your life
to create space in your day
to check in with yourself, your inner voice
possible pause buttons
meditation or 'creating space' practise
creating art
photography
cooking
chanting
mindfulness
decorating
music (listening to or creating)
journal writing
walking
sitting (indoors or outdoors)
focussing on something (a flower, the sea, a tree blowing in the breeze)
possible benefits
feeling balanced, centred and calm
knowing yourself
hearing yourself
relating to others well
having focus and discipline
learning how to pause and know when you need to
feeling relaxed and learning how to access relaxation
perspective
if you decide to explore this i hope you'll find it interesting, beneficial and fun throughout 2014 if it's not something you already do :-) you could record your experience in a journal.
i'd love to hear how you get on and/or if this is something you already do.
